“I originally signed up for Katrina’s Yoga Boot Camp with expectations of transormation – all physical, however. I wanted to be fitter, stronger, sexier, stretchier. I am finding that I have reached that goal, and obtained so much more!

I feel amazing every morning, I am happier and more stress free. I am sleeping better. I feel transformation in my attitude, in my lifestyle, in who I am and how I look at the world. I am grateful every day for my decision to sign up. Thanks Katrina for being so amazing!‎” -  Corrie

Kamloops Yoga Fitness Boot Camp For Women

What’s it like? You can expect a wide variety of fitness exercises and dynamic yoga poses (no previous yoga experience necessary). You’ll feel your body transforming quickly due to your dedication. Part of the program is outside in the fresh air, and part of it is inside in the welcoming atmosphere of the yoga studio.

The whole idea is that you get stronger and leaner in an enjoyable and empowering way.

Classes run 5:45-6:45 am. Say what?! Yes, it’s early. I wasn’t stoked on the idea when I first heard it either. But you know what? I did a boot camp this early and LOVED IT! Because at 6:45 you’re done. You’ve taken care of one of the most important aspects of your health before some people are even out of bed.

Your body gets used to working out early, and it’s GREAT for your metabolism. PLUS, you’ll be surprised how much more you get DONE because you’re up and invigorated that early.

Location: The camp is at Let’s Move Studio (925 McGill Place), which has a breathtakingly beautiful view of the mountains and valley in the morning. Nothing like an awesome workout and beautiful view of the mountains in the fresh morning. PLUS there are free showers and an infrared sauna available! You can even stay for an early yoga class on some days, or treat yourself to a massage.

***Each boot camp class is one hour long. The boot camps run 5:45-6:45am, Monday -Friday during the sessions listed above.***

You can participate in the full length (19 or 15 day) programs 3 or 5 days per week.

All camps include:

  • Nutritional Support
    • Nutritional Guide and Recipes
    • Healthy weight and healthy eating program
  • Highly Skilled Yoga Instruction
  • Pre and Post-Camp Measurements - We keep track of your results
  • Appreciation Gift - Different every time!
  • And lots more!

Yoga Fitness Boot Camp?

Think of a fitness boot camp. The whole idea is you commit to an intensive exercise program for a specific length of time, work hard, and see results. You will work hard, maybe harder than you’ve ever worked out in an hour, but beleive it or not, you’ll most likely LOVE the challenge. It might be a little intimidating of an idea, but you can rest assured you will not be degraded, yelled at, or belittled at any point in this boot camp. In fact, the whole idea of the Yoga Fitness Boot Camp For Women is to empower you; strengthening your sense of self-worth at the same time your body becomes leaner and stronger.

So where does yoga come in?

The reason yoga makes this class totally unique and extraordinary is that it engages your whole being – body, mind, and spirit. Think about it: If you’re working with intention and focus while you run, do lunges, hold a challenging pose, or whatever else you might be doing, you’re going to get a whole lot more out of it.

If you think about your body being stronger, slimming down, becoming more healthy, or what have you, it helps you transform even faster. And for me, as a yoga instructor, alignment is super important. When you learn to exercise with your body in optimal alignment you are less likely to create risk for injury. When you’re in alignment you increase your circulation optimally, which leads to a healthier body.

Yoga can be challenging and yet totally empowering at the same time. Even though I don’t bring nearly the amount of philosophy or yogic technique into the boot camp that I do in my yoga classes, you’ll still feel more uplifted and satisfied from the relevant, inspiring themes and mindful alignment. Your body will thank you for stretching every time you ask it to work hard.

Plus, I remind you to smile, which is yogic fitness for your face, melting stress away in an instant of light hearted awareness. :)

“Get ready for a fun, invigorating, workout that is safe, effective and for WOMEN ONLY!”

Why aren’t men allowed? I’m sick of society telling me that men are supposed to pull weights and do “manly sports.” And that yoga is for women.

    7. April 24th, 2010 at 11:27 | #7

      Chris,

Thanks for your comment. I can understand your frustration, though please realize I’m not telling you what you’re supposed to do or how to do it. You are most welcome in my yoga classes where I have some excellent male students who are definitely NOT wimps! Yoga is not just for women.

However, at this point the boot camp is for women only because I am creating a safe, empowering space for women to explore who they can be. Yes, this could also be done with men inspiring us and being inspired by the women there, but there’s also something to be said for a women only environment. Often women are intimidated by guys, and we make up stuff in our heads and create imagined competition. None of this is your fault, as a man – it just tends to happen.

I may open the boot camp up to men, or even have a guys only class in the future. But at this time I appreciate your respect of giving women space to explore their strength on their own, and I invite you to take part in my other yoga classes. I promise I’ll challenge you! :)

Hi Katrina, loving the class so far. I was reading on your page that when you did the class yourself, you did a timed mile. I was just wondering if we were going to do that. It sounds like fun! Also, I was so happy to hear you are getting a Vitamaster – I have been trying to convince Kurt that it is a worthwile investment for some time. Can you tell me where you got yours? I was going to wait until they came back to Costco but that is not ususally until the fall. Thanks,Monica

    10. May 6th, 2010 at 13:39 | #10

      Monica,

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the class! Yes, I’m planning to do the timed mile. It will be fun for sure. :)

I ordered my Vitamix, actually, and I’ll have those available through my website soon. They are really amazing – one of the most important things in my kitchen. I’ll let you know when that’s up and ready. I called Costco and they said it would be June or July before they get them in.
